The difference between IP65 and IP67
Leave a message
IP65 and IP67 are ratings defined by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) for describing the degree of protection provided by enclosures against the ingress of solid objects (first number) and liquids (second number). These ratings are part of the IEC 60529 standard.
Here are the key differences:
IP65

Dust Protection: Completely dust-tight, providing full protection against dust ingress.
Water Protection: Protected against low-pressure water jets from any direction, with limited ingress permitted. This means the device can withstand water jets, but it is not intended to be submerged.
IP67

Dust Protection: Completely dust-tight, providing full protection against dust ingress.
Water Protection: Protected against temporary immersion in water up to 1 meter depth for 30 minutes. This means the device can withstand being submerged in water for a short period without allowing water to enter.
Summary

Dust Protection: Both IP65 and IP67 offer the same level of dust protection, being completely dust-tight.
Water Protection: IP65 is protected against water jets, while IP67 can withstand temporary immersion in water. Therefore, IP67 offers a higher level of water protection compared to IP65.
