Soft Wash Metering Valve

Soft Wash Metering Valve

Soft wash contractors often struggle to keep chemical and water flow consistent from one job to another. This UPVC metering union ball valve was built exactly to fix that headache. The numbered 0–10 dial lets you dial in your flow rate on site and lock it in. Thanks to union connections, you can fit or remove the valve without cutting pipe, saving plenty of time during installation and maintenance. It works great for liquid mixing, chemical dosing and many low‑pressure fluid control jobs.

From the field
If you have spent enough time running soft wash jobs, you have probably dealt with this exact situation: you set up your proportioning rig in the morning, everything looks fine, then halfway through a roof wash the mix feels off. Some areas come out clean, others look streaky, and you end up going over the same spot twice. Chemical cost goes up, job time stretches out, and the customer notices the uneven finish.
After hearing this complaint from enough cleaning crews, we put together this metering valve as a practical answer. It is not a fancy piece of equipment - it is a straightforward flow control valve that does one thing well: lets you set a flow number and come back to it job after job.
What it feels like in daily use
The first thing you notice is the yellow dial on top. Numbers run from 0 to 10 in clear, easy‑to‑read markings. You do not have to guess how far open the valve is - you just read the number. On a typical house wash, you might land on 4.5 for a standard mix, and the next day on a similar roof you set it straight back to 4.5 without re‑tuning. That consistency alone saves a lot of trial and error on site.
The handle turns smoothly and has a solid feel. OPEN and CLOSE are printed directly on it, so even a new crew member can tell at a glance which way to turn it. We have used these valves on job sites in direct sun, in damp weather, and after sitting in a work truck for weeks - the markings stay legible and the dial does not slip on its own.
Union ends are the other detail that makes a real difference. If you have ever had to cut pipe just to swap out a leaking valve, you know how much time that eats up. With these union connections, you unscrew by hand, pull the valve out, drop a new one in, and you are back in service. No pipe cutter, no glue waiting, no re‑measuring. For a small crew running back‑to‑back jobs, that is meaningful downtime saved.
Problems it actually solves
Flow drift between jobs. Standard ball valves only give you a quarter‑turn with no reference point. You think you are opening it the same amount, but you are not. This numbered dial removes that guesswork.
Leaks from chemical exposure. Soft wash mixes are hard on rubber and metal. The UPVC body resists corrosion far better than standard metal valves, and replaceable seals mean you do not throw away the whole valve when a seal wears out.
Slow field repairs. Cutting and re‑gluing pipe mid‑job is a productivity killer. Union ends let you swap the valve in minutes.
Wasted chemical. When flow is inconsistent, you over‑apply on some areas and under‑apply on others. A repeatable flow setting means you use the right amount every time.
Where it stands out compared to ordinary valves
Most cheap ball valves on the market have no scale at all. You twist the handle and hope for the best. This valve gives you a numbered reference you can write down, share with your team, and reuse.
Metal bodied valves cost more and corrode faster when exposed to sodium hypochlorite and other soft wash chemicals on a regular basis. UPVC handles these mixes well and costs less to replace.
Many metering valves use glued connections. Once they are in, they are in. The union design means you can service or remove the valve without touching the rest of your plumbing.
Specs and options
Standard body material is UPVC. For more aggressive chemical profiles, CPVC, PPH and PVDF options are available. Two dial pad ranges are offered: 0‑6.25 and 0‑10. V‑ball angle choices cover 5 degree, 10 degree, 15 degree, 30 degree, 45 degree and 90 degree linear, depending on the flow response you need.
Sizes available are DN15 (1/2"), DN20 (3/4") and DN25 (1"). Refer to the dimension drawing for exact layout measurements. Seals come in EPDM or FKM / Viton - choose based on your specific chemical mix.
Internal parts use corrosion‑resistant materials throughout. Stem and ball are PVDF, valve seat is PTFE, and the handle assembly is held together with SS304 screws. Cap, handle and dial pad are ABS. Backnut, adaptor and carrier match the selected body material. All O‑rings and seal rings are available in EPDM or FKM as ordered.
One thing to keep in mind: rubber seals will gradually degrade with constant chemical exposure. That is normal for any valve in this application. We keep spare seal kits available, and if you need full performance data, flow curves or site reference photos, just ask our sales team.
Always confirm material compatibility with your actual process fluid before installation.
